A January reflection on slowing down, organizing my art studio, and preparing for a year of creating in the Baby Jess Universe.
Taking January Slow: Creating Space for a Year of Art ✨
January is often a quieter month, and this year I chose to truly lean into that energy 🌙. Instead of rushing forward, I gave myself permission to slow down—to reset, organize, and create a foundation that supports a full year of art-making in the Baby Jess Universe.
Creating a Cozy and Magical Art Studio 🕯️🎨
One of my main focuses this month was organizing my studio and transforming it into a space that feels cozy, calm, and deeply inspiring ✨. I wanted it to be more than just a place to paint—I wanted it to feel like a small, magical world of its own.
I spent time clearing, reorganizing, and intentionally styling the space so it supports creativity in many forms: painting, journaling, reading, and quiet reflection 📖🖋️. After I moved to Longmont last year, the rest of the year just flew by and I didn't have a chance to create my studio the way I really wanted it! It's going to be a wonderful space to share all the worlds of the Baby Jess Universe.

A Year Focused on Creating, Creating, Creating 🌱
As I mapped out the year ahead for the Baby Jess Universe, one theme became very clear: create, create, create ✨. To do that fully, I knew I needed to remove distractions and get myself organized now—so I can stay focused on the art throughout the year.
January became the month of preparation 🗂️. I started a large new project, planned upcoming collections, and created systems that allow me to spend more time painting!!! Seriously so excited for 2026! Not sharing just yet my project but I had to share this magical fox painting. It makes me smile so much:)

Preparing the Studio for YouTube and Restful Art Videos 🎥🌙Another exciting part of this reset has been getting my studio ready for YouTube ✨. My goal is to create a cozy, calming atmosphere where people can relax, unwind, and feel inspired while watching me paint.
Moving Forward with Intention ✨💫
Taking January slow has reminded me that creating art isn’t just about the finished pieces—it’s about the spaces, rhythms, and care that go into making them. By giving myself time to organize, dream, and prepare, I feel more grounded and excited for the year ahead.
Heading into February with the same vibe, creating as much as possible, including new original art for Spookyville, experimenting with some new ideas and fingers crossed I'll get a video up on Youtube!!🎥🌙
