A couple of years ago, I started this blog, Magical Grit, as a way to document my journey toward becoming a full-time artist. Life got busy, and for a while, I stepped away from it—but now, it’s back, and I couldn’t be more excited to share this adventure with you!

Why "Magical Grit"?

Art has always been my passion, but turning creativity into a full-time career? That takes grit—the kind of raw, unfiltered hard work that happens behind the scenes. I’ve spent 25 years in the restaurant industry, balancing long shifts with late-night painting sessions, pouring every ounce of energy into my dream.

At the same time, my art business, Baby Jess Art, is more than just paintings—it’s a magical universe where imagination and creativity take flight. Magical Grit is where these two worlds collide: the disciplined hustle of making art sustainable and the enchanting wonder of creating the Baby Jess Universe!
